Nothing Gold Can Stay
Lately I have made many references to the leaves changing from their summer green to autumn shades. The transition reminds me that nothing lasts forever, whether it be good times, blue periods, or boring episodes. So here are some tangents on the topic.
- I must be a progress knitter, because I do enjoy the rhythm of a pattern, particularly lace. After the project is knitted up, the honeymoon is over with having to block and weave in the ends. If the item is a gift, then a new honeymoon is created from seeing the delight in the recipient’s face. Strange how I seem to live for that emotional roller-coaster.
- Another amusement ride is now over. Rich’s 6-month contract job which began a month ago is now over. The abruptly end was due to the contracting company’s being bought out two days after he started. His only hope for coming back would be if a fellow co-worker transfered to green pastures elsewhere in the company.
- In my chocolate stash, the little Crunchy Praline Chocolate Bar with its Danish origins is no more. Despising anticipation, I finally broke down and ate the lovely morsel!
- The Hokies football season has been disappointing. These kids are acting like brats on and off the field. Even though the team used to lose when I was at VA Tech, at least the players were not as arrogant as the kids today! What a let-down after those golden years of good sportmanship.
To celebrate the “all things must end sometime” theme, I am going to dish out some goodies. Not quite a contest, just whoever is my 500th comment. Good luck! =:8
EDIT: Thanks for the well wishes on Jessica Bunny. She is still sneezing ever few minutes. Besides doing a full disinfection of JB and Zydeco’s living area, we are going to change the hay she had been eating (for over 3 weeks!) and see if that makes a difference. If no effect, she will have to be knocked out and have her sinuses cleaned out. 🙁
Hi Kim!
I’m a super-bad commenter but I just wanted to stop in and say hi! I hope removing the hay helps your poor bunny – I used to have bunnies when I was a kid (a big ol one named Luis after that guy on Sesame Street, and later a fiesty Netherland Dwarf named Jazzy) so it’s nice to come here and see your little cuties. 🙂
Hey Kim,
She might actually have a cold virus that is common in rabbits. She may also have something more commonly known as pastuerella (forgive my spelling). In addition to changing her hay you may try feeding her some dandelion leaves, thistle leaves with saltines, or comfrey leaves. All of these can help her heal up. If it is pastuerella it is contagious and much like a common cold can’t really be “cured.” I’ll check my medical books tonight.

I think I’m sort of a process knitter myself although when i get close to the end of a project I find myself hurrying to finish. I need to get to work on some stuff now though. I’m in a kind of stalled state at the moment. Too much blogging maybe.
Hi Kimberly,
I guess my surprise for you will have to include something to do with the Fall season huh?? ?hee hee hee Joanne
Feel better soon Jessie!
Awww…I was hoping she’d be better by now.
Ah but while that gold is on the trees – breathtaking!
(((hugs)))
Hopefully a change of hay will make her feel better!
Wow, that’s a lot of WIPs you have there on the side bar! I hope the hay change does the trick for the bunny as cleaning out the sinuses sounds horrible 🙁
500th comment on this post or 500th overall? I barely get 5 on one post!
Me?
That’s a lot of comments missy. I’m impressed.
For me…I’m a process knitter, I simply love the process of doing something with my hands! Granny always said “Idle hands are the work of the devil!” When you hear that at a young age…it sticks!
As for VT, you should be here! Though you know I’m not a hokie…I do agree with your views, but it’s everywhere…kids are NOT being taught respect and other important virtues!
Like you, I think I’m a process knitter as well – and the preparations for a new project are also almost more exciting for me than the finished thing. But just almost, when I get near the end, I find myself hurrying up like mad, these are the nights that I spend knitting because I can’t lay it down so close to the end. And yet – it’s mostly the process that counts for me too!
Oh no, I hope she gets better soon and I hope it’s the hay and not her sinuses! Just cause my name is Mrs. Sniffles doesn’t mean i think it’s good for bunnies to sniffle.
Did I know that you went to VA Tech? Did I tell you that my Grandfather and Uncle were/are Alumni? Or that I went to VA Tech All-Sports Camp?
Small world, eh? ;o)
