My 2016 Mother’s Day Feelings

Spread the love

Twelve years ago, I was about to take a big step into a relationship that I ended the Autumn of 2009. Now it is 2016 and I am exactly one month away from celebrating my daughter’s third birthday. Looking back, I never knew what future I could expect, and I never thought in 2009 I would ever bear children. To celebrate this holiday weekend, I made some Spicy Popcorn for Quiddy, Hot-headed Granola, and cast on 2 items — a shawl for a cousin and something so decadently Slytherin for me, I could be considered guilty of avarice.

The i-cord cast on and Chart A finished during Mother's Day weekend 2016.

I have cast on another Annie Modesitt’s Corset Tank Top from the ModeKnit Yarn’s ModeLuxe DK in the lovely Jade colorway with the secondary accent color from my stash, Vickie Howell’s SWTC Love in the June and Johnny colorway. (Please click HERE If you are curious about the first one I made as ModeKnit Yarn’s sample piece.)

This present to myself is thanks to my being the host of Annie and Kathleen’s Corset KAL (which kicks off next month in mid-June). I actually have 2 corsets to make: the first is in ModeKnit’s yarn while the second will be in worsted/aran weight from my stash. With both corsets, I will be showing the how-to details of what I did for fit, function, and overall appearance. To track my work, I will be posting details here and on my Ravelry project page with snippets on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter.

There are so many options to participate in our KAL:

  • The 2 types of kits contain the ModeLuxe DK yarn with or without the pattern and will have a “special something” in each package. To pre-order your kits and be eligible for special door prizes, see this page to find your colorway and then click HERE to send a message to Kathleen.
  • If you already have yarn in hand but need the pattern, click HERE to purchase the download on Ravelry.
  • And finally if you just want to follow along to see what we are doing, please bookmark the ModeKnit Yarn Facebook page. Track us online everywhere else by using the hashtag “corsetKAL” for easy searching.
  • Will you be able to join me next month?
